K. Anthony Shibley, MD

Dr. Shibley joined OBGYN Specialists in 1993.

Biography

After majoring in Chemistry at Texas Christian University, Dr. Shibley attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. He completed his OBGYN residency at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.

Dr. Shibley travels around the world to teach laparoscopic surgical skills to physicians everywhere. He also used his surgical expertise to assist in the development of the INSORB Absorbable Subcuticular Skin Staples and is the Inventor of the PneumoLiner Tissue Containment Device. In 2021 the FDA recognized the surgical safety it provides and introduced a requirement to use the PneumoLiner in certain types of hysterectomy.

Dr. Shibley’s outside interests include spending time with his four children and his grandchild, snowboarding, golfing, and cycling.

I have found a way to blend both my love for patient care and engineering by developing devices which make surgery safer and more efficient. Finding ways to decrease surgical risk and recovery time for the patient has been hugely satisfying in my career at OGS.
