As you change through life, so do your health needs. At OBGYN Specialists, we offer the most advanced services for every stage in a woman’s life. From routine pelvic exams and pap tests to age-specific immunizations and screenings, we’ll ensure you get the preventive care and expert treatment you need to stay at the top of your game year after year

    Wellness Care: Ages 9 — 18
    • Tdap Vaccine 
    • HPV (human papillomavirus) Immunization (Gardasil) - One series for those not previously immunized
    • Pap smears are not recommended for this age group

    Wellness Care: Ages 19 — 39
    • Breast examination
    • Pelvic examination
    • Physical examination including neck/thyroid
    • Height, weight, blood pressure, BMI
    • Wellness screenings
    • Cervical cytology (pap smear)
    • age 21-29 – every 3 years with cytology (pap) only
    • age 30 and older – co-test with cytology and HPV testing every 5 years
    • Tdap immunization
    • HPV (human papillomavirus) Immunization (Gardasil)- one series for those aged 26 and younger if not given previously
    • Cholesterol Test – Every 5 years
    • Influenza vaccine – annually

    Wellness Care: Ages 40 — 64
    • Pelvic Examination
    • Breast Examination
    • Neck, thyroid, abdomen
    • Other physical examinations as necessary
    • Wellness screening and information
    • Height, weight, BMI, Blood pressure
    • Cytology (pap test) and HPV testing every 5 years
    • Mammography – Yearly
    • Cholesterol Test – Every 5 years
    • Colonoscopy – Every 10 years after age 50
    • Tdap immunization (one time with Td every 10 years)
    • Influenza Vaccine – annually

    Wellness Care: Ages 65+
    • Pelvic examination
    • Breast examination
    • Neck, thyroid
    • Height, weight, BMI, blood pressure
    • Additional physical examination as necessary
    • Wellness screening and information
    • Bone mineral density screening – every 2 years
    • TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) – every 5 years
    • Cervical cytology (pap test) – discontinued at age 65 with previous negative results
    • Mammography – Yearly
    • Lipid profile – Every 5 years
    • Colonoscopy – Every 10 years
    • Tdap immunization – one time with Td booster every 10 years
    • Influenza Vaccine – Yearly
    • Pneumococcal Vaccine – Once

     

Wellness Glossary

Your doctor or nurse practitioner may advise you of additional tests or procedures needed throughout your journey. We are happy to provide you with a referral as our office does not perform all services.

Cervical Screening (Pap test) - A sample of cells taken from the cervix to look for changes that may lead to cancer.

Tdap Vaccine  - A shot to immunize against tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis.

HPV (human papillomavirus) Immunization (Gardasil) – A cervical cancer vaccine that helps protect against 4 types of human papillomavirus (HPV): 2 types that cause 70% of cervical cancer cases, and 2 more types that cause 90% of genital warts cases.

Cholesterol Test – A blood test that checks levels of cholesterol, which helps to carry fat through the blood vessels. Levels that are too high can lead to hardening of the arteries.

Mammography – An X-ray of the breast to look for breast cancer.

Colonoscopy – A scope view of the rectum, colon, and lower intestine to look for colon cancer.

Influenza Vaccine – A shot to immunize against the flu.

Urinalysis – A test to check for chemical changes in the urine.

Pneumococcal Vaccine – A shot to immunize against pneumonia.
